Thank you Mr. Ednie. It's cold! Minus 20℃ with a wind. Winter 2018-2019

This year was perfect to test out the snowshoes. We had to bundle up as it was cold, some days -27 degrees Celsius. The scenery was fantastic as we moved through the woods. Don't you love winter!

Sports for Life Gr. 11
P. Theriault

If you want to be challenged to reach your full athletic potential, then Sports for Life is for you!
This course offers a variety of endurance activities, such as Max Fit (fitness training program), curling, fencing, triathlon (kayaking, biking, running) and many others.
Students are exposed to a multitude of individual and team sports throughout the year, during which students receive an in-depth knowledge of the rules and regulations while pushing their personal athleticism throughout.
This course will improve students’ skills such as mobility, hand-eye coordination and cooperation.
Students will also leave this course with a marked improvement in their personal cardiovascular endurance and strength.

Students say Sports for Life is…

Fall Activities

Winter Activities

Spring Activities

October 2015
Staying healthy requires giving yourself time to experience the outdoors, sharing with others and learning to plan how you want to do it.
In this course students plan and share the experience of creating activities, while building a healthy mind, body and spirit.
February 2016
Mother Nature hindered winter activities such as cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and winter camping. Regardless, in February, we did go sliding and students enjoyed a mock winter camping trip learning how to make a
quinzhee (snow hut) and how to build a winter campfire. All started well but rain forced our “s’mores” cooking into the cafeteria. Still delicious!

Outdoor Education & Recreation Class's Ski Trip (2017)

Creating Outdoor Games 2016
The outdoor recreation class was given the task of creating outdoor games that could be used around the campground after a day of hiking, biking or paddling. Fun games created were Game of Washers, Hula Frisbee, Pipe Ball and Bean Bag Toss.
March 2016
Community involvement is highly regarded and in March local guests were invited to share their expertise.
  • Jay Aldridge and Neil Ednie demonstrated and assisted in “how to tree climb” from learning basic techniques to very technical and skilled approaches.
  • Mr. McArthur shared his archery equipment teaching the class basic archery skills.
First Aid Certification 2016
Outdoor recreation students training for certification in CPR, AED (defibrillation) and EPPI (Epipen).
