Drama

Drama is more than putting on a performance. It is about creating the scene, finding volunteers to help, advertsing, selling tickets, working past school hours and meeting vital deadlines until the job is done.
There can be no excuse because when the advertsing goes out for the performance date, people will arrive to see your work.

This 21 minute Behind the Scenes video was created by Gr. 11 student Valerie Tsimonidis-Gougeon. It includes comments by the staff on the decisions made in the production and students introducing themselves and their role. Students also share the challenges of playing multiple roles.

Sound Check

Projecting ones voice is enhanced with a microphone system. However, perfecting the combination of voice projection and audio sound requires cooperation and testing with the sound crew. Working together to make the ultimate in sound and visual projection is a transferable skill.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals are about practice and perfecting the routine. This minimizes stress and builds confidence in the performers as well as perfecting the stage left and stage right entrance and exits. Students learn the importance of being there and supporting fellow cast members.

Behind the Scene

A good performance gives the audience a sense of a seamless story. However, there is much to be done behind the scene before, during and after. Costumes, makeup, painting, building and having fun, all create memories and a bond between students, teachers and the school that extends beyond the high school years.
