Dear Families,
This is to confirm today’s announcement by Premier Legault. All of our schools & centres are closed until May 1, 2020.
Here are some details we know so far. We will continue to communicate with you as more information become available.
Exams/Evaluation
- There will be NO Ministerial exams for the 2019-20 school year. Should school not reopen on May 4, teachers will be asked to evaluate your child based on their first two report cards.
- On March 30, the Ministry of Education will launch on-line resources for students. These resources are NOT MANDATORY – parents are not expected to become teachers, and your home is not expected to become a school.
- As of April 6, the Ministry of Education will provide you (by email or regular mail) a list of activities by grade level. Again, these resources are NOT MANDATORY – parents are not expected to become teachers, and your home is not expected to become a school.
- The Government is giving CONSIDERATION to allow some staff/parents access to our buildings to retrieve VITAL items, in a very controlled manner. We have no further details at this time.
- The New Frontiers School Board will continue to ensure essential services are maintained, particularly at the three Emergency Daycares (for essential services workers) we are running at Gault Institute, Heritage Elementary, and Mary Gardner Schools.
Sincerely,
Rob Buttars
